Two Kinds of Burbank Jobs, One Counter

Burbank sends us two very different shopping lists. One comes off the old residential blocks — Magnolia Park, the streets north of Olive, the flats below the hills. That housing is prewar and early postwar. Plaster and lath, shallow stud bays, two-wire circuits with no ground, and panels that were sized for a house with one refrigerator in it. The other list comes off the studio lots, post houses, stages, and the office buildings around the Media District, where the work is tenant improvement and the material is commercial-grade from the box out.

We stock for both. A remodeler pulling old-work boxes and GFCI receptacles for an ungrounded kitchen circuit and a TI crew pulling EMT, MC cable, and a pallet of flat panels are buying off the same shelves. Everybody gets wholesale pricing — there is no contractor tier and homeowner tier here.

Getting to us is straightforward. Victory Boulevard runs west out of Burbank into Van Nuys, and Sherman Way is two majors north of it; the 134 west to the 170 north works when Victory is backed up. We open at 6:00am Monday through Friday, so you can load before the first call of the day rather than after it.

The Corridors Between the Lots

Not every commercial job in Burbank is a stage or a media office. San Fernando Boulevard, Magnolia, and the older strips off Olive turn over constantly — a restaurant becomes a different restaurant, a retail bay becomes a clinic, a shop becomes offices. Those are small-footprint tenant improvements on buildings that were not built for the load, and the material list is short but specific.

Track and monopoint for retail display, recessed adjustables to wash a wall, exterior and sign circuits on Intermatic time clocks or photocells, occupancy sensors where the energy code requires them, and enough dimming to pass a lighting control inspection. We keep those pieces together, and we quote the whole package rather than the fixtures alone.

Older Burbank houses get relit a room at a time, which means the new recessed trims in the kitchen have to live next to the ones somebody installed five years ago. Bring the old trim or the model number and we will get you the closest current match on aperture, finish, and color temperature so the ceiling does not read as two different jobs.
